I wrote a thing about decision spaces. I'd like to push it further but this kind of writing is somewhat exhausting for me. I'll take any and all feedbacks, though, and if there's interest (there won't be lmao) I might revisit it later, improve it and push it further.

So, I made the Gardens of the Courë, Mahou Dragons Mekh Warriors, and The Great Tournament of the Six Supernal Spheres both for the heck of it, and as a way to practice game design - with the express intent of focusing on the player's decision-making experience.  But it would have been too long (I think) to talk about all three, so I ended focusing on the first one.

(A lot of what I do is very strategy-oriented, but notably all my weird narrative stuff and TTRPGs and  my more action (?) oriented video games aren't really about decision-making, right?)

Anyways, this is the distillation of what I've read and my own ruminations about decision spaces; their properties and characteristics, and how that can shape the player experience. I feel like there's so so much I didn't talk about though,  so much more to say, it's very frustrating. (Maybe next time?)

I guess it also acts a little as a dev-log/post-mortem for the Gardens of the Courë? Anyways.

It felt like really fruitful work for myself, at least. And I do have an appetite to push this stuff forward, because I felt like I was touching on some really interesting things about decision spaces. I also need to listen to a lot more of the decision space podcast, it's really fascinating stuff and I've barely scratched the surface.
